Goodbye again, Sacramento

Our stay in Sacramento for this time around is wrapping up. February 28th, we hit the road. By March 1st, we'll be in Yuma, Arizona for a month, and then we start some serious trekking east, eventually ending up in New England for a summer visit. Our original plans only had us in Sacramento for about 5 weeks, arriving in Yuma by December 1st. But as fate would have it, a series of events intervened, prolonging our stay to from 5 weeks, to four months. Happily, being retired and living the lifestyle we do, adjustments like this are possible, and in this case came with some happy outcomes: Dan's brother and sister-in-law are now well on their way to full recovery from their serious motorcycle accident of last August; Mindy & Milan have welcomed a second son (and my 7th grandchild) into their family; Dan and I were able to spend lots of time visiting with the kids and grandkids and were lucky enough to attend school plays, soccer tournaments, Christmas programs, rugby matches, and share Thanksgiving Day with family. No matter how long or how short we stay when coming to this area, its hard to leave, hard to say goodbye. As always, we take away awesome memories from our visit this time around. In no particular order, below are some snapshots of our interlude from the road!

Sacramento August 2013

August 8, 2013, and we're back in Sacramento. But just for two weeks! On August 23rd we leave for Hawaii, where we will stay for two months. We tried to fit in as much family time as possible during these two weeks, and here are a few pictures of that.

Wrapping it up in Sacramento, May 2013

We only stayed in Sacramento for one month this time around, arriving on May 3 and taking off on June 2. But what a wonderful month it was! We were busy just about every day seeing family and friends, golfing, hiking, celebrating Mother's Day and my grandson's first holy communion. I traveled west to San Francisco for "girls day out" with my daughters, sister, and granddaughter. Dan and I traveled east to Gardnerville for a visit with our friends who live there. And on the more mundane side of things, we saw our dentists, doctors, and ophthalmologist, and got the truck serviced, making sure everything was in order until the next swing through the area. The month flew by, and before we ever had a chance to settle in, it was already time to go! Below are some snapshots of the highlights from our Sacramento stay.

Fair Tale Town

I've been visiting Fairy Tale Town in Sacramento since I was a kid. Then when my own children were young, there were many more visits. Visiting Fairy Tale Town with the grandkids on an unusually warm day in January 2012 was just perfect!
